A while ago I attended a weekend where Patrick McCarthy was teaching his arts at a local school. Over the years I have communicated with him, done translations from the French for him, and even contributed an introduction to a re-issue of his Bubishi publication. However, this was the only time I have met him.
It turns out we had quite a few acquaintances in common. Which isn't too surprising. His stories are impressive and vast, making for interesting discussion.
The range of things he shared was impressive. He had some of his US students assisting him and they were incredibly skilled individuals. Working out for 8 hours each day, and they weren't even sweating.
