???? - I had inquired some time back but really didn't get anywhere... but would anyone have any knowledge on the whereabouts of books 2, 3 and 4??? Would be completely awesome to find the remaining issues.

never made. Though, a few years back, someone said that they were going to
finally be released.

if there is a wholly accurate source of Isshinryu history/info that you're
aware of somewhere on the internet. Seems like most have varying degrees of
incorrect info and someone always says "that's wrong" "that's right".
We all know what our instructors taught us but it seems some of it is just
inaccurate and can get more muddied as it's passed from generation to
generation
(And since tone is difficult to interpret in text I'll clarify that this is a
sincere and respectful question. We all know these forums can be a little
contentious 😉)

There is not one single wholly accurate source. You are exactly correct that
most have varying degrees of incorrect information. There are grains of truth
in the majority of articles and books out there but there is still a great deal
of distorted information and flat-out wrong information out there. I did not
take your comment as disrespectful. Everyone has a right to ask and to know
what is correct or not.
Originally only the first volume of the
Encyclopedia was published by Joe Jennings. There was a more commercial
hardcover binding for the book. He did discover that the production cost for
books was considerably higher than a video tape series, featuring Uzeu Angi. In
fact this may have been when he formed Panther Productions.
So a 3 volume VHS series was produced on
Isshinryu. Later realizing more information could be shared, and more money
made he re-did the Isshinryu tapes as a 10 part series. Both can be located
today on YouTube.
Of course there are always questions
about the facts contained there in, the book or the videos’
Martial publications have certain
characteristics (in no particular order)
1.
Most of them are one time vanity productions, Designed to fill a need, and make
an immediate profit for the producer. Not to be sold on a continuing basis.
2.
Anything once in print becomes ‘truth’ liable to be repeated over and over in
future authors works, And having been in print becomes a useful footnote.
3.
There is little verifiable martial history that is published in most books.
That
does not mean the oral history is wrong, just unverifiable.
4.
And reality is that there are multiple histories based on differing viewpoints
which have become realities for those students.
Working
out which details are’ truth’ becomes a very complicated endeavor.
Take one real event in time, the Battle
of Gettysburg from the American Civil War.
Literally thousands of books have been
published to explain what occurred on those 3 days, and many more books are to
be published in the future, for sure.
If one 3 day period generates so much
publication, why would you believe any martial system would be less complicated
to understand.
Not suggesting it should not be done,
just there will be other points of view no matter what effort is made.
