Jim Keenan Not that anyone cares at all but...here's a simplistic breakdown of how I view the ranks I award:
white through green = elementary school
green through brown = middle school
brown = high school
shodan = high school diploma, college prep
nidan = associate's degree
sandan = bachelor's degree
yondan = master of arts degree
godan = doctoral degree
all ranks above that = honorary, possibly post-doctoral study
All that being said, the knowledge and skill standards of my schools are higher
than what is typically reflected in the available education systems from
elementary school through the doctoral degree.
