Some of the Underlying Principles

I thought it worthwhile to list some of the underlying principles behind my study of karate applications.

1.      The need to become totally unpredictable.

2.      Every expression of movement should be able to conclude an attack , every time.
a.      This led to studying a movement against every type of attack
b.      Learning the full potential of each movement
c.       Realizing how additional techniques (such a multiple striking or Chinese short range striking) could be integrated into your art.

3.      The understanding every aspect of the movement and the variety of correct alignment
a.       Learning how slight misalignment would weaken the movement

4.      Learning how the individual’s movement potential must be developed prior to the study of the application potential.

5.      Understanding that the individual’s potential for an application related to their belief the  technique could work and also required the skill was equal to the task.

6.      The understanding that there were layers of correct answers to one movement expression.
