Sharing a bit of my "Book of Victor" reminds me of why I created it. Moving to Arizona, retired and no longer teaching or capable of working much on my martial practices, I wanted to choose what I wanted to focus on in the future.
It was not a manual for my senior students. Of course they received copies, but this was but a minor selection of the thousands of techniques we worked on together. They understand I expected that they would make their own choices, so nobody could understand what was their personal art.
With nobody to work with these days, I felt it would be valuable for me to save choices that I wanted to continue working on. Not that I ever stopped working on understanding everything I studied.
Of course the hobby of Lapidary that I have since worked on, in a way fits what I see about the various martial arts. I continue to be amazed at the breadth of the texture of the earth's rock, the foundation of the planet. The key is looking further at rock reveals so much unseen texture. Of course you have to work to open it up just as in the study of karate which is what I see in true martial potential.
I never stop looking, and going over my martial studies finding more I missed seeing before.
The past week I have been focusing on more potential to kata Seisan (Isshinryu) always finding there is more to see. Just as the rocks on my desk as well as the boxes of othe rock I have cut.
To think about Seisan this is a place to start:
