So Simple:
1.
Right foot
forward stepping in toward the right. As you do that both hands sweep up, as if
brushing against the face, then both hands sweep down as the stepping
concludes. As you perform it you have rotated about 90 degrees to the left.
2.
Left foot
forward stetting in toward the left. As you do that both hands sweep up, as if
brushing against the face, then both
hands sweep down as the stepping concluded. As you perform it you have rotated
about 90 degrees to the right.
3. Left foot forward stetting in toward the left. As
you do that both hands sweep up, as if brushing against the face, then both hands sweep down as the
stepping concluded. As you perform it you have rotated about 90 degrees to the
right. Then your Right foot forward stepping in toward
the right. As you do that both hands sweep up, as if brushing against the face,
then both hands sweep down as the stepping concludes. As you perform it you
have rotated about 90 degrees to the left. What you have done is drill 2
then drill 1 together.
Left foot forward stetting in
toward the left. As you do that both hands sweep up, as if brushing
against the back of the head, then both
hands sweep down as the stepping concluded. As you perform it you have rotated
about 90 degrees to the right. What you have done is drill 2 then drill 1 then drill 2 together.
5.
Right foot
forward stepping in toward the right. As you do that both hands sweep up, as if
brushing against the face, then both hands sweep down as the stepping
concludes. The left hand concludes at the wrist but the right hand continues to
flow down beneath their arm then it becomes an elbow strike into their side
beneath their arm. There is one version as you perform it you have rotated
about 90 degrees to the left. The other version on the elbow strike you
continue to turn your right foot to the rear or 180 degrees away from where you
started. In either case you drop to your knees after the elbow strike which
becomes a throw.
6.
This begins
exactly like Drill 1, but after you step in towards their centerline your left
foot steps back 180 degrees counter-clockwise.
Those
are the basic motions of the drills but each contains so many variations.
While
this is Asai the first 3 defences could also be Drills 1, 2 and 3 here.
Drill
1 a. The
two rising hands slash into the opponent face, the left hand on rising and the right hand while descending. The right
step forward is facing toward the striking opponent
center. This is a KO.
1 b. This
time the stepping right foot steps across the line of attack. The ascending then descending hands disrupt the opponent
focus, while you
turn counter-clockwise with the strike. This become a takedown
Performed with one
continuous inhale to move to take over
their
center.
2 a. The
while the hands rise the right arm moves the attacker attack away from your
center. Then the rising left hand slashed to their face
Then
as both hands descend the left moving their face to rotate so
The
descending left hand can apply force for a KO.
2 b. On
the other hand the rising descending left hand can just hit the face
To
make a destabilizing force. The ascending and descending right can end atop the
attacking limb, or when moving that limb continue on below. This would be a
prelude for drill 3.
3 Use of Drill 2 to destabilize the opponent and
then continue with Drill 1. Thus when
they have been destabilized you can enter their attack
Using
Drill 1. To finish them.
3 a. When
the conclusion of Drill 2 has the right hand atop their attacking limb, you use
the right arm of the two ascending descending hands to attack into their neck.
Besides the KO potential this becomes a thyow
3 b. Then
the conclusion of Drill 2 has the right hand stop below their attacking limb,
you se the right arm of the two ascending descending hands ot attack into their
ribs. This then becomes the initialization of a throw, using that strike to further
break their balance, The throw can have the potential of a KO.
4. When
done as Drill 2 then Drill 1 then Drill 2 again the first two drills are done
softer to destabilize their balance and move them where you wish. At the
conclusion of the Drill 1 you have moved them so you are able to enter their
attack from behind. Then the left hand rising and descending becomes a slash
into their neck for a KO takedown.
5 a. This
version starts as Drill 1. The ascending descending ;alms staiking their face
to destabilize them. But as you complete the downward strokes you are ended
facing toward where their attacking limb in going. Your left hand lightly
grasps their attacking wrist while you strike into their ribs with a backward
tip of the elbow strike. Use that destabilization to throw them, You simply
drop to your knees while grasping their wrist. That creates a force to throw
them over your shoulder. Then they flip over on their back on the ground before
you.
b. This
version starts like the first version of Drill 5 but on the elbow
strike
back into their ribs your left foot continues to step to the rear.
Than
makes you rotate 180 degrees counter clockwise before you drop
To
your kees. That motion allows you to throw them down as before just in a
different direction.
6 a. The
opening hand strikes into the face are more to break their balance. Having done
so your left hand softly grabs their wrist as the same time your right hand
lightly lays atop their biceps. Those two conclusions to the ascending descending
palm causes thei center of gravity to their biceps. The initial destabilizing
slaps make that easier.
Then
you stepping away with your left causes them to be downed with a layering
throw. They flow down to the ground on their back
6 b. The
opening hand strikes into the face are more to break their balance. Having done
so your left hand softly grabs their wrist as the same time your right hand
lightly lays atop their wrist directly behind your left grab Those two
conclusions to the ascending descending palm causes thei center of gravity to
their wrist. The initial destabilizing slaps make that easier. Then you
stepping away with your left causes them to be downed with a layering throw.
They flow down to the ground on their back. This version is a more deep
destabilization takedown.
6 c. This
can be a variation of the a. or b. version. When they are going down your right
hand turns over mid takedown, grasps their biceps and forces them over. Thus
making the takedown throw end them on their stomach for greater control on the
ground.
On a separate
issue one time I noticed what could happen should you have a knife in your left
hand. I remarked to Tristan, was this not possible. He agreed that potential
was there.
Used this way
even a very small knife could be most deadly as it could attack the neck with
this motion. Similarily stick of very short stick, or rocks. Bottles, anything
being held in the hand become another layer of force enhancer.

Note for my students: You should recognize these drills are all variant versions of our aikido drill 5 and aikido drill 2. Just more fluid when executed and done with a continuous inhalation to increase speed and move their centerline into your centerline. All are variations on these themes.
