Karamidi means hojo-jutsu, or rope
binding. The word consists of "karameru" (karamiyun in Okinawan,
bind) and di/ti (hand). In the era of the Ryukyu Kingdom, karamidi was used by
Ufuchiku (police chief) and Chikusaji (police officer). Karamidi in Motobu
Udundi are directly transmitted from Motobu Choyu sensei.
