How Not to Bow and How to Bow

これは確かどこかの航空会社のスチュワーデス(当時の呼び方)が外人さん相手に自分を大きく見せるために始めたんですよね。私はこれ見るたびに、上から見られているようで嫌な気分になります。プロペラ機は揺れるため、気分が悪くなった乗客の看護的役割があったようで、語源は「豚小屋の番人」だそうです。昔の機内は酷かったんですね。

This was started by a stewardess of an airline (as it was called at the time) to make herself look bigger to foreigners.

 

Every time I see this, I feel disgusted because it feels like I'm being watched from above. Since the propeller plane swayed, it seems that it had a nursing role for passengers who felt sick, and the etymology is "pigsty keeper".

別に小笠原流でもなくて、普通に気をつけをした15度敬礼が基本ですね。

 

It's not the Ogasawara style, and the 15-degree salute is basically a normal care.
