When Dr. Paul Harper
began in our program in 1992,
Seipai kata was
taught privately to me from his Goju studies.
I really liked
Seipai, explored it’s application potentials,
Realized it’s use of
turns could make it a real compliment to our Chinto kata.
The two of these forms form a complimentary study f
or the use of kata turns as a weapon.
But our own kata
routine had so much depth I didn’t feel adding another advanced kata was
feasible.
Still I see such
potential with this form.
