Ryukyu Martial Arts: Five Oral Teachings (Kuden) and Gamaku
Joe Swift gamaku is a
dance term to refer to a specific motion to be done by male dancers to
replicate the curvy waist/hip area of a woman... hardly a martial arts term...
but when used in martial arts refers specifically to the proper usage of the
quadratus lumborum muscles when walking/punching.
The various biomechanics described herein are considered to be more sanchin
oriented (i.e. more modernly chinese influenced) and are highly frowned upon in
naifanchi (which mimics the biomechanics of japanese sword arts) :
this makes them not wrong, but not quite the same as when talking about
"te" vs. "tode" D
