Al Kwok & Hidy Ochai
Kata Battle of Atlanta 1975
The 1975 Battle of Atlanta was a historic karate tournament.
The KATA finals help to make the Battle of Atlanta one of the most legendary events not only in karate but martial arts as a whole.
This final battle between Hidy Ochiai and Al Dacascos (or is it Alex Kwok?) was going to be one for the ages. On that night, thousands of spectators gathered to see two of the very best go head to head in a major tournament.
The gentleman in the very beginning is Alex Kwok performing Mizong Luohan Kung fu.
Master Ochai's form may be modern, made up of traditional techniques and some added flair, but his superb technique and power is undeniable. Master Ochiai has written that the handsprings came from a ninja who was hiding in the temple he trained in (long ago) and was incorporated into this kata (long ago).
