When I studied Faaz Tzi Ying Jow Pai (Northern Eagle Claw) I was informed that each form had a formal opening when the form was performed publicly. In reality this form was also a complex form in its own right. Always to be performed before the form.
However, in practice it was not always done.
This was demonstrated for me; however, my studies did not include learning the opening. Truthfully it was beyond my capabilities, too.
