In the 1930’s there were so many
incredible books being published in Japan about Okinawan karate. However I
believe they were intended more for a Japanese audience, such as the Japanese
Martial Arts Establishment.
I have a question I have never seen
discussed. What penetration did those books have on Okinawa itself? Did they have an impact on the developing
Okinawan karate?
Dojo
TokyoMushinkan First, i wouldn't call these books incredible, they
were at best basic manuals... considering that almost of the authors were both
born too late to have had access to martial education in the realest sense,
they didn't have all of the tools to understand the teachings of their masters.
That and almost all were proponents of Itosu new-fangled karate... i wouldn't
doubt that these books were available in Okinawa but likely didn't have any
real impact... they barely made a dent in mainland japan either... LOL
