Wrist Grab Defense
Attacker RFF grabs your right wrist with their right hand (cross hand grab)
Step LFF (outside their arm)
Step RFF raising your arm up (they’re still holding on to you trying to control you)
Pivoting on the ball of your right foot, your left leg spins/steps back counter-clockwise, as you spin underneath their arm
You finish in a LFF horse stance (facing the same way as the attacker) and drop your right arm, right hand open in shuto, throwing them down.
[This is a variation of the shi-ho nage but this one they throw themselves when they don’t let go.]
Two Attacker’s Grab your Wrists each with both hands, pulling your arms out.
Left footsteps straight back.
Drop to your left knee and pull your hands in to you
Your attackers slam their heads together and drop
You conclude with a punch to one of the attackers before you.
Break Roll’s
Practicing forward break rolls ending standing on your feet and throwing a reverse punch into your attacker.
Grab Defenses
Attacker RFF Right Hand Grabs your chest (on your lapel)
Your left hand grabs their hand, closes and turns their hand counterclockwise.
Step forward with your right foot, then turn your torso counterclockwise and your right forearm strikes down across their forearm (just before the elbow).
As you rotate counterclockwise you take them down
Attacker RFF Right Hand grabs your chest (on your lapel)
Your right hand grabs their hand, closes and turns their hand clockwise as your left footsteps forward.
Rotate your torso clockwise (turning both feet) as your left palm presses against their elbow.
This becomes a locked arm takedown.
Attacker LFF Left Hand cross grab of your lapel.
Your left hand grabs their hand, closes and turns their hand counterclockwise.
This turning motion bends their arm, as they can’t turn as fast as you do as you’re in the center of the circle, raising their elbow.
Your right palm presses against their elbow
Rotate your body counterclockwise for the takedown.
Note: whenever possible that the person is on the floor locked down, finish with a descending punch into the attacker.
Attacker RFF Right hand grabs your chest (on your lapel)
Your left hand grabs their hand, closes and rotates counter-clockwise
Your right hand presses into their right tip of their shoulder
Your right foot steps forward, behind their lead leg
Takedown and punch to complete.
Punching Attacks
Attacker RFF Right Rising Punch to your face
RFB as your left open hand – palm parries against their strike
Grab their wrist with your left hand and circle their arm down then up counterclockwise.
Spin on the ball of your left foot as your right foot spins back clockwise, and you draw their arm over your head.
Reach up with your right arm and grab their forearm.
Both hands pull down for a shi-ho nage lock and takedown
Attacker RFF Right Rising Punch to your face
LRB Left rising inside open hand parry.
Right foot slides forward behind their lead leg
As this happens your right ridge hand strikes into their neck
Rotate counterclockwise and take them down over your leg
Attacker RFF Right rising punch to your face
LFB as your left open hand parries in and then down (along your right side)
Right foot slides forward behind their lead leg
As this happens your right ridge hand strikes into their neck
Rotate counterclockwise and take them down over your leg
Complicated Defense against a Punch
Attacker RFF with a right punch
LFF with a left high block
RFF (between your and their leg)
LFB (counterclockwise underneath their arm) as your left presses their arm down after you pass under it
You rotate counterclockwise and RFF rolling your right arm underneath their biceps to lock their arm
LFB (counterclockwise) rolling them off balance as you drop to your left knee.
This isn’t easy to describe as you roll underneath their attack and keep using your turning as the prime mover to off balance them.
Attacker RFF Right Punch
Left foot forward, slipping alongside their striking arm.
Rotate your body clockwise, and your left arm rolls over their striking arm and under it in a spiral.
Your right hand (as if to press against your left palm) instead grabs their wrist.
Press your left arm down across their biceps as you raise their wrist.
Rotate your torso counterclockwise as this happens, driving off your right foot turn 90 degrees to the left with a left outward motion.
This also isn’t easy to describe, but it is a variation of the Sutrisno Aikido No. 10, the outer arm turn, locking them from the outside. In one sense after your left arm rolls in and under when your hands press outward it is very similar to Isshinryu Seiunchin’s Augmented block section.
Variations on Heaven and Earth (Sutrisno Aikido No.5)
Attacker RFF Right Punch
LFB Left outer open hand parry as the right-hand hooks behind their neck.
Right foot slides forward (behind their lead leg) and you spin counter- clockwise, pressing their arm and neck down at the same time.
This sets up the throw.
No. 13 was done with several different angles of entry.
Projection
Attacker Right Foot Forward Right Punch
LFF Left hand over and down (clockwise) over their arm as the right palm slides into the right side of their neck and hooks behind their head.
Right knee strike into their chest/stomach, then replace your foot.
Pull their neck forward and down, taking your left hand to spin their arm up and over.
This ends up with a projection of them spinning feet over their head in a forward roll takedown.
This entire series is a variation on the Sutrisno Aikido No. 3 theme (new version) which is used for a spiral down before your feet instead of a projection.
