From ‘The Ten
Lesons of Toudi’ by Anko Itosu “ The techniques of Toudi –…
Ramon Fernandez-Cid Sorry for the
precision, but being a practitioner from long time ago of Shito-ryu I can make
a precision at the point that the Fifth Defensive Principle of Kenwa Mabuni is
Hangeki.
In Shito-ryu it is very common to use the Kobo ittai Principle, which
emphasizes the fact that defense and attack must be one and the same. On the
other hand in the same way in which Master Choki Motobu has explained it also,
especially the use of both hands in Meotode.
In his last book and Testament: "Empty Hand: The Essence of Budo
Karate" Kenei Mabuni explains it very well, in addition to providing
examples and comparisons with different techniques of Kenjutsu and Iaido. I
recommend that book, I do not doubt that you will appreciate it. The book
describes many paths and roads that must be walked.
Thanks for your article, it's like everyone you write, very interesting.
