Serendipity and Change to Karate
Serendipity is often something that has worked in my
favor when I have tried to piece together the reasons things changed in
karate....

Also starting in the late Meiji 1000s of Okinawa's
had been 'encouraged' to leave Okinawa and migrate to Hawaii, Brazil etc where
they worked as croppers on plantations - the economic situation on Okinawa was
dire and too often this is forgotten both by the mainland Japanese and the rest
of the world when the talk about the old days of karate. Most of the masters,
even if they came from privileged, were very poor. For more look to the work of
