Back when I was a beginner these were the Isshinryu American Seniors

When I was a beginner the big 4 Americans in Isshinryu were SteveArmstrong, Harold Long, Harold Micthum and Don Nagle. At that time as 8th degree black belts they held the highest  rank in America. When I was a beginner not much of the time was Isshinryu history, Okinawan of American, part of class. But I quickly picked up from the magazines in those days the 4 individuals who were then 8th dans were Armstrong, Long, Micthum and Nagle.

When I was a blue belt at the Sunnyside Tournament I met Armstrong, Long and Nagle. Mitchun was at my black belt test when Lewis Sensei and the entire IKC tested me. So finding all of this thought it would be a good fit for all of you. Not that they were better than all the others, but they were among the first instructors back here and helped establish American Isshinryu through their efforts. They and of course everyone else.
