Matayolshi Crane

 

We were having a clinic with Ernie Rothrock at the Derry Boys and Girls Club.

It ran so long those instructors in attendance gave Ernie a break and performed some of our own kata. One of them was Fred Leose who had studied under Matayoshi over the years he was on Okinawa.

My friend from Cambridge is a Goju stylist, but he also trained with Matayoshi on Okinawa.

Here is Matayoshi and then him, performing their Crane form.

Ernie Rothrock later watched both versions and was struck how much was transmitted to Fred.
